Birthed from the Hackney Wick warehouse scene, London multi-instrumentalists Platypus Complex entwine their rich respective backgrounds, disciplines and influences through unbridled hours of jamming. The collective has just dropped their debut single ‘Snake Charmer’. For segments of the track, the bass and guitars slither around three notes in a snake-like manner. When the distorted lead guitar lines comes into play, it moves around a fantastical set of notes, leaving you feeling as if you have taken some kind of magic potion. There's also a definite danceable energy to the track, owed to the fast punky strums and swaying bass line. With Go Kurosawa (Kikagaku Moyo) behind the production, 'Snake Charmer' is suitably surreal and disorientating.
